The World’s Toughest Row
3000 MILES ACROSS THE ATLANTIC OCEAN
Every year teams from all over the world gather to tackle the World’s Toughest Row organized by Atlantic Campaigns. This event will test the limits of our physical and emotional endurance. We will battle sleep deprivation, isolation and hunger while navigating 20 foot waves and gale-force winds, but we will also witness the awesome beauty of the wild ocean in ways that cannot be experienced near land.
The race spans 3000 miles from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua in the Caribbean. We will row non-stop, unassisted, for 40-90 days. Competing in the World’s Toughest Row will test us in ways we cannot imagine but it’s also an opportunity for us to push our limits and achieve greatness.
Marine Animal Response Society
WE’RE ROWING FOR A GOOD CAUSE
All around the world, marine animals are threatened by human activities. Entanglement, vessel strikes, ocean noise, chemical pollution and marine debris are among the many hazards that can result in serious injury – and sometimes even death. With close to 25% of marine mammals threatened with extinction, we urgently need to find ways to reduce the impacts human activities are having on life in our oceans.
The Marine Animal Response Society (MARS) is dedicated to marine animal conservation through response, research and engagement. They respond to reports of stranded marine animals in the Canadian Maritimes, conduct crucial research in the field, and train organizations and volunteers to respond to these incidents responsibly.
